Lanny Williams Scholarship

Summary:
The Lanny Williams Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to 3 senior high school athletic training student aides with at least two years of experience who demonstrate an excellent work ethic, character, leadership qualities, academic achievements, experience and competency as an athletic training student aide.

Qualifications:

  • Athletic training student aide for at least two years
  • Must submit a current resume
  • Athletic training student aide submits essay on what the athletic training student aide experience has meant to them
  • Submission of transcript(s)
  • Letter of recommendation by supervising certified athletic trainer
  • At least one letter of recommendation from coach, administrator, or physician
  • Limit of 2 nominees per high School.
  • Submit all the required materials together as a PDF form before November 1st

Michael E. Nesbitt Scholarship

Summary:
The Michael E. Nesbitt Scholarship is a $750 scholarship awarded to an athletic training student who is enrolled in a professional athletic training education program at a college or university level and who has at least two years of experience in an undergraduate program or one year of experience in a graduate program, demonstrating an excellent work ethic, character, leadership qualities, academic achievements, experience, and competency as an athletic training student.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a member of the AZATA
  • College or university athletic training student for at least two years
  • Must submit a current resume
  • Athletic training student submits essay on what the athletic training experience has meant to them
  • Submission of transcripts
  • Letter of recommendation by supervising certified athletic trainer
  • At least one letter of recommendation from coach, administrator or physician
  • Submit all the required materials together as a PDF form before November 1st

Warren H. Lee Athletic Trainer of the Year Award

Summary:
The Warren H. Lee Athletic Trainer of the Year Award is given to an individual who has helped elevate the status of our profession at the state level and set themselves apart as an outstanding athletic trainer.  It is intended for an individual who has contributed to the profession, association, place of employment and the community beyond the call of duty.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a member in good standing of the AZATA and NATA
  • Must be certified by the BOC
  • Must be Licensed by the Arizona State Board of Athletic Training
  • Nomination form must be completed with recipients resume and two recommendation letters completed
  • Completed and submitted nomination before the November 1st deadline

AzATA Service Award

Summary:
The AzATA Service Award is given to an athletic trainer for their continued efforts, time and skills as it relates to improvement of the profession of athletic training.  Those efforts can include but are not limited to serving on committees, working with licensure board, serving as an officer within the AzATA, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Member in good standing of the AzATA and the NATA for at least five years
  • BOC certified athletic trainer
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Completed and submitted nomination form before the November 1st deadline

AzATA Hall of Fame Award

Summary:
The AzATA Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor we bestow upon our members.  It recognizes individuals that have shaped the profession through their noteworthy accomplishments and dedication to service, leadership and professionalism.  Every so often a truly gifted person comes along whom, by genius, hard work, and exceptional talent sets themselves apart and distinguishes themselves as the very best of our profession.

Qualifications:

  • Member in good standing of the AzATA for a minimum of 15 years
  • Member in good standing of the NATA for a minimum of 20 years
  • BOC certified athletic trainer
  • Must have served on an AzATA committee or BOD for a minimum of 10 years
  • Must be approved by the AzATA Board of Directors
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Completed and submitted nomination form by November 1st deadline

Special Recognition Award

Summary:
This award will be given to one person who is not a certified athletic trainer at the winter meeting in Phoenix. This award will go to one individual whose contributions positively impact the profession and/or association. Examples could include but are not limited to athletic directors, coaches, or parents. Nomination letters should include the person's contributions and why this individual is deserving of this award

Qualifications:

  • Non-athletic trainer
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Completed and submitted nomination form before the November 1st deadline

Richard T. Ball, Esq., Lifetime Achievement Award

Summary:
The Richard T. Ball, Esq., Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a non-certified Azata member or other person who has demonstrated a sustained commitment, and an exemplary level of quality service to the AzATA and to the profession of athletic training in Arizona.  It is the highest award that can be given to anyone who is not a certified AzATA member.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a public and well documented relationship to the AzATA of at least 10 years
  • Must demonstrate accomplishments and efforts that are exemplary and sustained over ten year period of time
  • Must submit three letters of recommendation from members of the AzATA
  • Completed and submitted nomination before the November 1st deadline

The President’s Award

Summary:
The AzATA President’s Award recognizes individuals who have provided an exemplary level of service, recognition, or honor to the Arizona Athletic Trainers’ Association (AzATA) and/or to the profession of athletic training in the State of Arizona.

Qualifications:

  • Nomination by the President or Executive Board of the AzATA
  • Completed and submitted nomination before the November 1st deadline
